TEOCO expands network analytics capabilities with Mentor 10.0 announcement
Hadoop support and analytics enhancements help operators drive network experience and operational efficiency
FAIRFAX, VA., USA – 20 February 2018 – TEOCO, the leading provider of analytics, assurance and optimization solutions to over 300 communication service providers (CSPs) and OEMs worldwide, has upgraded the analytics capabilities of Mentor, its network optimization and analytics solution and added support for Big Data infrastructure.
As CSPs strive to understand subscriber behavior and data consumption trends to ensure they can deliver the required quality of service, they find themselves analyzing ever expanding volumes of data to extract the required insights. This data overhead stretches the capabilities of existing systems and threatens to erode operational efficiency by drowning engineers under a mountain of data.
Mentor 10 helps our customers address these challenges with the following new capabilities:
Network analytics incorporates additional device capability filters enabling engineers to filter maps and statistics and focus on the performance of specific network slices while new Arc maps streamline optimization efforts.
Subscriber analytics includes expanded VIP subscriber and subscriber group analysis enabling targeted network improvement to ensure retention of key subscribers. Expanded cross-technology virtual drive testing provides experience troubleshooting as subscribers move between network technologies.
Device analytics delivers expanded device level KPIs and KPI distributions to highlight the worst performing devices. Threshold crossing alarms on device KPI’s raise alarms when performance drops below pre-determined levels guiding engineers to the highest priority issues.
Hadoop support provides Mentor with massive data ingestion, scalability, and cost efficiencies that traditional database infrastructures are incapable of delivering. Scalability ensures future-proof support for the ever-expanding data streams of 2G/3G/4G/5G RAN networks. Open-source software and commodity hardware saves significant 3rd party costs on larger systems (in the order of 25-50% savings depending on system size). Strategic utilization of big data and advanced analytics also significantly reduces OpEx by between 10-15%[1] according to recent research by Heavy Reading.
These enhancements enable operators to improve customer experience through the use of actionable insights driving Quality of Service, and improved network performance monitoring and troubleshooting. Finally Mentor 10.0 adds support for the latest software versions and data formats from major equipment vendors including Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia and ZTE.
“Big Data and advanced analytics play a key role in service providers understanding subscribers and determining the best and most cost effective way to serve them. The new release of Mentor does this and more for our customers as they strive to differentiate themselves from their competition” said Aloke Paskar, Executive Vice President at TEOCO. “With this upgrade network engineers have the right actionable insights at their fingertips in order to understand and monitor network service performance at a subscriber level, helping them make informed decisions to drive quality of service and new revenue streams.”
